Zermatt 2.0

Another awesome weekend in a place I already know to be super awesome: Zermatt, Switzerland!

Zermatt

Last week Claire and I were given the opportunity by her Rotary Club to spend this weekend in Zermatt. Obviously we accepted right away, and got super excited. On Friday after school I headed home right away to do some more studying for my big German test that would be taking place the next day. In the late evening I went with my host parents to watch a short film in the theatre that was made by one of my host brother's friends. The film was very well done and although I'd seen it before, it was great to see it again. After that we headed home, had some dinner, I studied a little bit more, then went off to bed.

The next morning I woke up at 5:30 and got on the train at 6:30. I arrived at the test location in Zürich just before 9:00 and then we began. It turned out to be not too bad and I think I did relatively well. The test for me was over just before 14:00, I then waited with friends for some others to take their tests (the last part of the test was done in partners so we all started and finished at different times). Once everyone was done we headed back to the main part of Zürich where I then met with Claire.
After the test in Zürich

At 18:00 we hopped on the train going from Zürich to Visp where we then changed trains to head up to Zermatt. We arrived just after 21:00 and checked into our hotel. The room we had was a suite on the top floor with a balcony overlooking Zermatt and the Matterhorn. It was truly awesome! After getting settled in we headed down to the restaurant and had a buffet dinner which was amazing after our journey. There we also met friends of Claire's YEO who helped us with the hotel and came skiing with us the next day. They were truly great people! After that we headed out into Zermatt for the evening and ended up meeting lots of people from all over the world.

My dessert: Chocolate Mousse

The next morning we woke up around 8:00 and went for breakfast in the hotel. By 10:00 we were on the mountain for an amazing day of skiing. I can't really put it into words so enjoy these pictures:

At the end of the day we picked up our stuff at the hotel, changed, then went for probably one of the most exciting adventures I have so far experienced in Switzerland: a helicopter ride through the alps all the way back to Chur!! Again no words so enjoy these pictures:

After we landed I headed back home. This was honestly one of the best weekends I have ever experienced, and it was of course amazing to be able to ski one of the most famous mountains in the world!!

Until next time, tschüss!
